Welcome to bulbmuseum.net!

Wonderful early Packard lamp with the classic Sawyer-Man half-twisted 16cp carbon filament and a Westinghouse push-in base. With a hand blown elongated baloon-shape envelope and Y-shaped *trouser legs* stem, this is a fine specimin of late-1880s electric lighting. Its only flaw is an open filament but this detracts in no way from its historical interest An online archive of pictures and details of the items in my personal collections. Light bulbs, christmas lights and other things that glow- of all ages, shapes, sizes and origins. And not just lights, there`s also the things essential to make those lights work- vintage electrical accessories like switches, sockets and plugs.

A pair of tipped carbon lamps made by the British Thomson-Houston company, dating from the early 1910s. Displayed in vintage porcelain bayonet lamp-holders.The Future of this site is uncertain, but rest assured it will remain online. In what form, I don`t know, except to say that it will be bigger and better than ever before. I start in this long-term plain with a new domain-name. The old address will still work, for now at least, but for the future please make a note of: bulbmuseum.net. No Ws, just plain and simple. Additionally, find my Lights Displays Archive site at displays.bulbmuseum.net.
I have great plans for the future including improved formatting and navigation, but most importantly, more items and features. The things featured here are just a fraction of my collection which numbers maybe over 2000 light bulbs, nearly 200 christmas light sets and a whole pile of other bits and pieces. In the forthcoming months I plan to expand this site to feature the very best "exhibits". This expansion will require a change to the structure of the site in order to keep things organised, and also I have a new appearence planned too. All this takes time- and time is something that is in short supply. Expect to see the first wave of the new formatting and updates show up later this year.

FEATURE: How to bring a Century-old lamp back to life! The story of one early bulb that got a second chance in life.

The Torch Reviews Site. Once, I had reviews of torches (flashlights) here, but they weren`t very good so something needed to be done about it. This led to the creation of the TORCH REVIEWS Site. Witn an improved look and an improved review format, it continues to grow and provide information about a multitude of different technologies, from the big to the small, the dim to the bright. Be warned, the colours are quite bright. If you don`t like orange, I can only apologise!

IMPORTANT- Please take note. I am NOT a distributor, manufacturer or dealer of light bulbs, christmas lights or flashlights. I get a lot of emails asking how to buy the things featured here- obviously there is some confusion as I am only a collector, and this site is just a "Virtual Museum"- there is nothing for sale here. It is maintained by myself in my spare time, as an information site- intended to share knowledge about the electrical lighting items featured here. The items featured here are from my own personal collection except where noted. Manufacturers- I am always interested to learn about your new products (and will happily accept samples for the "Bulb Museum" too) however please remember I am not a distributor or dealer and have no involvement in the business side of the lighting industry.
